Ps3 hard drive replacement

I think the time has come to replace my hard drive on my ps3 has anyone else on here done it?

As usual I have a question

I obviously need to back up the data from the original hdd but i have no external hdd would it work if I buy an external hard drive case to put the new 500gb hd into it back it up onto that and then remove it from the case and install that into the ps3

Or fit the 500 gb hdd into the ps3 and fit the original hdd from the ps3 into the case and install it onto the new 500gb in the ps3

It's easy to do takes less than 2 mins to install !

What you'll need to do is backup onto the 500gb copy everything to your pc . Then wipe the 500gb swap over then format the old hdd put it in the caddy with the backup files and then restore backup from your old hdd if memory serves .
