Power Sounder battery going flat

got home tonight locked the car and the alarm LED flashing as it is arming which suggests a fault, 5 minutes later the power sounder is blasting off, unlock then relock, after about 5 mins again it goes off.

One way round it which i have read is to turn on the ignition but get out of the passenger door without opening the drivers door and lock the car, that way the doors lock but the alarm isn't armed.

Just got to get the passenger wheel arch out to disconnect the power sounder and get some new batteries 8)

What a pain in the ass! We had this on her Zafira a while back. Bloody thing was going off all hours of the night. I didn't know about getting out the passenger door? Have you tried it?

I wasn't sure that the car locked at all unless the driver door was opened and then shut?

car definately locked as i keep checking it just to make sure.

Did you get another power sounder or did you replace the batteries?

I went to the dealer to get my pants pulled down and my butthole reamed! :wtf:

I seem to remember a thread on here a few years back about replacing the batteries, not sure if it was Mark, but I remember thinking what a ballache it looked having to make sure you sourced the correct batteries and then having to solder them in.

I'll remember that trick with the doors if it ever happens again.

Got a new power sounder from Autovaux (excellant service btw), fitted it yesterday and no random alarm sounds :D

I've got the same problem and after reading through this forum know that it's the power sounder...that's been driving me insane!!!

Thanks to everyone who posted on what the problem was and a massive thanks to the guys down at AutoVax in Wakefield. Phoned them this morning and went and picked up a new power sounder this afternoon and they even sorted me out with the plastic rivets in case I bust any!!!

I phoned the "Vauxhall Specialists" this morning as well and they couldn't do the job because they hadn't even heard of the power sounder...?

Right, off to replace the duff one now...wish me luck!!!

Good luck with the fitting, glad you've been able to get to the bottom of your issue. AutoVaux are great to deal with, I've bought numerous things from them.
