Z22SE p0420 on decat (surprise surprise) and seafoam!

Hi all,

Got an Astra G convertible with the pre-cat and main catalyst removed from the original pipe. Showing p0420 (catalytic converter efficiency low) and my CO emissions are 0.49% (0.29% over the 0.2% MOT limit) when my oil temp is at 12 degrees (I know I know, but I didn't do the test). I also have a slightly split flexi which is blowing a bit, but given it has no cat I'm assuming the car can't be detecting that. Hydrocarbons are fine, 59ppm, well under the 200ppm limit. Lambda reading is about 1.03 (slight suspicion I'm running rich, but not sure). O2 sensors look rather new.

Plan is to burn a bit cleaner by:
- Fitting an oil catch tank vented to atmosphere (just done) as the intake pipe and inlet manifold are oiiiily.
- Clean the intake manifold
- Seafoam to try to wear down some combustion chamber carbon deposits.
- Run test after warming oil through

Then, if I am still not under emissions limits, fit a new cat.

Question:
- Does this sound sensible/anything else I should/shouldn't do?
- Any opinions on (carefully applied) Seafoam?

Thanks!
