My 2.2 after 5 hours!!!

This is my Astra 2.2 Bertone Convertible after spending 5 hours yesterday :?

I washed and leather her and then used Meguiars Smooth Surface Clay Kit, Meguiars Scratch X, and Meguiars Cleaner Wax to finish.

I also used some Turtle Wax Tyre Shine.

Looks spot on, great depth and reflection. Makes me want to go and detail mine. You may want to top off with a good wax though for protection as you dont want to undo all that hardwork of prepping the surface.

Sjdickso which wax would you suggest, I used Meguiars Cleaner Wax to finish, I've got the Meguiars Deep Crystal Carnauba?

My shoulder is killing me today, I can hardly move it - I think next time I'll have to stretch and warm up before I start

Deep Crystal Carnabua is fine (stage 3), The main thing by adding a wax layer is to protect all the cleaning and polishing stages you have just done. It will also add a bit more depth & wetness to teh paint finish.

There is better wax's out there but if thats what you have that will be fine.

People dont realise how hard work it can be to detail a car, esp 5-8hrs with a cheap rotary.

Ok I think I give a going over at the weekend with the wax jsut lock in my hard work.

I did mine all by hand and I started to worry when it suddenly came over all dark and cloudly with I was only half way through but luckily it moved on with out raining

Poorboys EX-P and Poorboys Nattys Paste is what I use on mine now. I do the foaming wash with Meguires NXT at the moment but i'm going to change that soon. I also use the 3 stage Meguires and then EX-P and then Nattys Paste. I get a surface finish like glass.

Johnny - why you clean it for, it doesnt come out of the garage to get dirty!!!!!

Great work by hand mate. Bet it gave you an immense sense of achievement, and well deserved. At this time of year a good long lasting wax is a must. May I suggest one from the Collinite range. A couple of coats and it will see you well into next year.
