I've found 2 part numbers for Piper Cams ?

VX22BP270

ECOBP270H

Can't see a great deal of difference between the 2, except the VX have 260 deg duration and the ECO have 256 deg.

I guess the VX22BP270 are the prefered cams dunno..

VX22BP270 are the correct cams, the others are for the x22xe and will not fit :?

From the tis CD on replacing cam shafts you find the following step:

31. Attach the intake camshaft sprocket.
• Use a new bolt.

• Hold the intake camshaft by the hexagon.
– Tightening torque 85 Nm + 30° + 15°

I dont understand "+ 30° + 15°" can someone explain please :)

Not 100% sure, so correct me if I'm wrong:

- Tighten all bolts to 85Nm (in specified order if specified)
- Rotate all bolts another 30 degrees in same order
- Rotate all bolts another 15 degrees in same order

So basically you are tightening everything evenly in 3 steps.

Cam chainTensioner

Im having a real problem undoing the cam chain tensioner, as its so shallow a standard 32mm hex socket can only get limited purchase on it

Can any one suggest an approach or a tip ?

TIA

and I used a 1/2" lever bar rather than a 1/2" ratchet handle, allows a bit more room between the clam and head

:( one step fwd............

I am now having trouble shifting the cam crank bolts, even with a mate holding the cams in place and me coming in with the lever bar they just dont want to shift, I think my timing chain recall was done by a gorilla!
Vocky soince you last suggestion worked, any more good ideas :)

crank bolt = blooming tight

lever bar once again, car in fifth gear, mate pressing brake pedal and handbrake applied, take up the slack until the engine is locked, then slowly apply pressure until the bolt moves, don't try to undo it quickly or the socket will fall off
