Z22SE engine ticking

My astra sri 2.2 engine is ticking constantly. Cheked oil levels etc and all seems okay.
Car does have an oil leak from the rocker cover, but keeping an eye on that.
What could be the problem??

What's the age and mileage? Has the chain ever been done, where is the noise coming from?

its an 02 model, 120,000mls, but only 50,000 on this engine.
chain was done at 100,000.
it sounds like its coming from the head gasket area.
i am not too good with cars to be honest, so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Is it ticking in time with the revs or do revs not really alter the speed of the ticking?

Possibly chain, maybe sticky lifter?

mine is doing same as OP and mine alters with the revs any idea p.s sorry for hijacking

When you got the chain done, did they replace the tensioner with the upgraded one? If you are lucky it could be sticky lifters (sort with Wynns Hydraulic Valve Lifter Treatment) however it could be the chain/tensioner Check this thread with my 2.2 SRI Direct.
