Engine Loom wiring - VX220 blue, black plugs

Hi
I guess this could be a question for Vocly or alanoo really, since you wouldn't normally come across this problem without investigating how to fit a standalone ecu
There's 2 connectors that come from the body and connect onto the engine loom, the TIS calls them X2 and X3. Under normal circumstances, they are attached to the side of the coolant header tank bracket. X2 is the blue one and X3 is the black one.
I've been going through the TIS and finding out which pin is which as I'm going to fit a megasquirt ecu and etb controller. I've managed to find out what most are, although the ones labelled as "INS" (Instrument) are a little vague, and also there are 5 wires on my car that don't seem to be listed :(
Here's a list of what I've got, if you can fill in any of the blanks it'll be a great help :)

X2 - Blue
1. Relay ECU BN/PK
2 . Ins/Start/Charge WH/BK
3. unknown BN/RED
4. unknown BK/RED
5. 10A Fuse FB7 GN
6. unknown BK/RED
7. unknown BN/PK
8. Relay - Fuel Pump WH/VT
9. INS (elabotate?) GN/BU
10. n/c
11. n/c
12. Relay ECU (related to 1?) GN/PK
13. Engine Cooling (fan) BU/GY

X3- Black
1. Pedal pin 1 YE
2. Pedal pin 2 GN
3. Pedal pin 3 BU
4. Pedal pin 4 BK
5. Pedal pin 5 WH
6. Pedal pin 6 BN
7. n/c
8. unknown BN/BU
9. Immobiliser WH/YE
10. INS (elaborate?) BN/BU
11. Vehicle speed WEG YE/GY - tacho?
12. n/c
13. Fuse 7.5A FB8

Cheers

Re: Engine Loom wiring question - VX220 (maybe veccy/astra?)

Well, I have almost all of this, but all is on paper, at my parents house, and I do not plan to go back there soon.

I believe INS are the two ground-commanded stack lights (oil and engine default)

Aren't you missing the ETB stuff there too ? (2 pots + driver)

Re: Engine Loom wiring question - VX220 (maybe veccy/astra?)

the ETB is connected directly via the engine loom to one of the slidey-ports on the ECU..
These connectors X2 and X3 are the ones that go to/from the car body and/or boot

pin 10 = n/c
pin 11 = n/c
pin 12 = gn/pk (0v for relay coil, pin 85 - ECU relay K18)
pin 13 = bu/gy (0v for relay coil, pin 85 - radiator fan relay)

X3 - BLACK PLUG
pin 1 = ye (throttle pedal)
pin 2 = gn (throttle pedal)
pin 3 = bu (throttle pedal)
pin 4 = bk (throttle pedal)
pin 5 = wh (throttle pedal)
pin 6 = bn (throttle pedal)
pin 7 = n/c

Re: Engine Loom wiring question - VX220 (maybe veccy/astra?)

That would explain why these are undocumented

the wires do go direct to the ecu, I checked

i guess u just left em disconnected vocky?

I have on two vx220's and nothing stopped working, it would be nice to know what they do.

I will get the ecu pin numbers from the next loom I cut up as the vectra manual lists the pin numbers

they may be cruise control ?

Re: Engine Loom wiring question - VX220 (maybe veccy/astra?)

do you know if the connectors used for X2 and X3 can be purchased... or are used in any other cars? to prevent me from having to chop up my vx one?

B118, lambda 2

you can definitely buy the connectors, just need to find out the part number... Either directly via Vauxhall, they can find these with the TIS, there is a special section for these. I believe these to be sumimoto connectors, but I might be completely wrong

well done :)

I've edited my above post to include the missing wiring

Re: Engine Loom wiring question - VX220 (maybe veccy/astra?)

Hi guys. Got another question about something that is puzzling me a bit.
Relay K18. I can gnd pin x2-12 and hear the relay click, but then nothing happens to pin 2, it stays at 0v.
The only thing I can think of is that it's linked to the start relay or alternator somehow.
Should I assume that it will go to 12v when the engine is cranking? (can't really crank the engine at the moment)

Cheers

I'm re-looming and find myself in this mess again :(

X2
pin 1 = bn/pk (pin 87 of relay K18, +12v for fuel injectors)
goes to 12v when pin 12 is 0v?

pin 5 = gn (+12v FuseBox 7)
is this always 12v or is it ignition swiched?

pin 8 = wh/vt (+12v for relay coil, pin 85 - fuel pump relay K16)
seem to remember this is not normal and most standalone ECUs will give 0v for fuel pump - so a relay is needed inbetween

pin 12 = gn/pk (0v for relay coil, pin 85 - ECU relay K18)
who/what/when sets this to 0v?

X3

pin 13 = vt (+12v FuseBox 8)
again, is this ignition switched or constant 12v?

X2 pin 1 = goes to 12v when pin 8 has 12v signal from ecu

X2 pin 5 = ignition switched 12v

X2 pin 8 = switched 12v from the ecu for the relay K16 coil

X2 pin 12 = switched 0v from the ecu for the relay K18 coil

X3 pin 13 = permanent 12v

(I have edited my original post above to include the info)

have decided to bypass most of it and run my own live and earth wires direct from battery for my new DTA loom
just using:

X2 - BLUE PLUG
pin 2 = wh/bk (instrument - rev counter)
pin 5 = gn (+12v FuseBox 7, ignition switched) - to start my own set of relays
pin 8 = wh/vt (+12v for relay coil, pin 85 - fuel pump relay K16) - DTA gives 0v for this so I have a relay in between which also triggers power to injectors, coil pack and cc water pump
pin 9 = gn/bu (instrument - coolant temp gauge [PWM - pulsed signal from ecu]) - left this in, might have a play with getting some signal to it at a later date
pin 13 = bu/gy (0v for relay coil, pin 85 - radiator fan relay)

X3 - BLACK PLUG
pin 1 = ye (throttle pedal) STC 5V
pin 2 = gn (throttle pedal) STC 5V
pin 3 = bu (throttle pedal) STC Pedal Sensor 2 (STC Pin 25 & ECU Ana1
Input)
pin 4 = bk (throttle pedal) STC Signal GND
pin 5 = wh (throttle pedal) STC Signal GND
pin 6 = bn (throttle pedal) STC Pedal Sensor 1 (STC Pin 33)
