Update E-mail Server

I'm currently trying out a new SMTP delivery server for the site. It's powered by Mandrill, and provides better delivery and bounce handling. It's all set up to work with our domain name, so the sender looks no different.

Links inside e-mails have google tracking enabled, so we can see clicks back to the site.

There is a nice GUI for us to monitor the e-mail delivery:

As we are a new account, we are currently limited to 25 mails per hour, but this will increase as our delivery rate increases over the coming days.

If you notice any issues with mail delivery, please let me know.

Cheers,
Matt

Really liking the interface with the SMTP server. It's showing delivery rate, success rate, bounce rate etc. I can also see which addresses are bouncing e-mails back, so I can stop them from being sent out again, which improves the "reputation" of the domain name for sending e-mails

I've moved this back to the VPS for sending e-mails from the site. We don't send enough e-mails under normal circumstances to need this service. I will however, be using it when sending mass e-mails out.

I've actually had our e-mail back on their service for the last month or so, as the connections to their SMTP host seems to have improved quite a bit, so there is no noticeable difference in posting speed using them. (y)
