Does this pic tell you anything ???

It's a cam chain tensioner out of a z22se, and was fitted along with a complete cam chain kit by my local Vauxhall dealer approx 8,000 miles ago.

The tensioner is exactly as removed from the engine, and I think the pics speak for themselves ?

I've had my Piper cams sitting around for a while, but I haven't had time to fit them.

I thought my cam chain was getting a little noisy, but thinking that it was replaced 8,000 miles ago by VX, I just put it down to paranoia, but the more I listened for it, the more I heard it, so I made time to swap the cams, and I could put my mind to rest that the chains were ok.

Sadly they wasn't, there was about an inch of slack between the cam wheels.

To be honest, I didn't strip anymore off at that point, I guessed if it's been running slack, it was time for a new kit.

I ordered the parts, and stripped it off the end of last week and found the tensioner, still pre tensioned.

I guess they missed that little step when they changed my chain

simply lever the chain guide with a screwdriver or release it and then fit it, it's not hard to fit just requires more effort
