Car wont unlock on button

Hi guys, i need help.

came to open the veccy yesterday and my key seems to have stopped working on the button.

I can open the car with the key itself but the alarm goes off until i start it. the red led on the fob itself is coming on so i guess its not the battery.

Both my main key and the spare are doing the same thing.

Any suggestions?

I've just changed both batteries as a matter of course then went out to try reprogramming the key.

turned on ignition and held lock button for approx 10 seconds.
everything appeared to happen as it should. ( car locked then unlocked itself)

Got out of car and locked it with the fob then unlocked it. (yippee it works)

Now it wont lock again unless i reprogramme the key again, its as though its losing its memory somehow.

could be the fobs

as you can get em new off ebay for a few quid it is worth getting a replacement before you look into your central locking module as this is where it gets expensive as it is coded into your immobilizer / ecu

how is the vec btw ?

cheers for the reply, i'll have a look for some soon.

Car is great mate. Not had much done lately as been rebuilding the escort engine for the crack. thats done now so hopefully get round to the veccy soon. thinking of investing in a set of coilovers as one of the shockers is on its way out. other than that i wanna keep it as it is as its good already.

Cheers for finding that mike.

As it happens i've just been out in it and it started working and has work the whole time i've been trailing round shops.

Bit of a strange one so might be as well getting this anyway just incase it happens again.

the fob light flickers rather than stays on when u press it

usually it is down to a worn fob

You'll need to an op-com type cable and the security code to program a new key fob or immobilizer chip.

I've had to repair a few of these due to dry solder joints on the battery. They need to be re-synced all the time as the battery connection moves and breaks connection briefly. Worth whipping it open and just giving the battery a little tug to check that its not loose.

Or you could just give it a quick re-solder if you've got a soldering iron.

well the mystery deepens.

the C/L is working fine now.

Apart from when it is parked outside my house, it just wont work.
Spoke to next door earlier and she asked why i'd parked up the street so i told her the story and aparently hers did it the other day.
She has a new Nissan Note. She went back to Nissan as she thought it was faulty and they tried it and it worked fine.
I live in an ordinary terrace house and the only new thing i have is Kinect. Could this be affecting it??????

Any advice would be great.
