Bad news this weekend help!!

Hi all,

My Vectra B 150 is pretty much mid way through a complete restoration prior to pulling the engine out yesterday for full timing n clutch replacement I thought I'd be a fool to pull it without doing a compression test so did it to find I've got 230psi on 1 and 4 but nothing on 2 and 3!! I thought what the!? The car ran sweet as a nut when I decommissioned it I would of noticed 2 cylinders missing, is there something I haven't accounted for during the compression test?? Haven't blocked something off maybe. Thanks all!

it is possible that 2+3 have bent valves, but it would have run rather poorly.

probably worth doing another compression test, quite easy to rig up a battery to the starter motor - even with the engine sat on the floor. Just bolt the gearbox back on so the flywheel does not catch on anything. Ideally you should remove the throttle body or keep it fully open during the test. Ensure you have a full sump of oil !
