“Hello, this is Rich at Polished Bliss, and in this video I’m going to tell you a little bit about Autosmart Tardis, and why it’s right up there at the top of our list of must have products for professionals and enthusiasts alike.
Tardis is a spirit-based solvent that quickly dissolves tar spots, glue residues, rubber marks and organic contaminants deposited by insects and trees. Its fast-acting formula not only speeds up the decontamination process, but also makes it safer, because it removes such contaminants in a virtually touchless way. The same cannot be said for clay bars, which often struggle to fully remove such contaminants and tend to inflict surface marring in the process. A further benefit of using Tardis is that it quickly and completely removes all previously applied sealant- and wax-based coatings, making it the perfect product for stripping off old paint protection in readiness for the application of new products.
So, how exactly do you use Tardis? After decanting it into a chemically-resistant spray bottle you should wash and rinse your car normally and then, working on one panel at a time, follow these steps. Firstly, spray it on liberally and allow 60 seconds for it to work. Next, take a microfibre towel and wipe the panel down gently to remove any stubborn spots of contamination. Finally, rinse the treated area with water before moving on to the next panel. In some cases you may find it necessary to soak stubborn residues for longer using cotton pads; this makes light work of removing old wheel weight and sticky fixer residues.
Are there any safety precautions to observe? The answer is yes. Firstly, Tardis is a spirit-based solvent, so you should wear nitrile gloves to protect your skin and safety glasses to protect your eyes. Secondly, it should never be left to dry out on any surfaces, otherwise staining may occur (this is rarely an issue during winter, but care must be exercised during the summer months, particularly on darker coloured cars). Thirdly, you should avoid using it on freshly painted finishes, as it does have the potential to dissolve fresh uncured paint. If in any doubt, seek advice from your bodyshop or SMART repairer before use.
In summary, Tardis is an invaluable decontamination product that removes tar spots and other organic contaminants with ease. It’s safe for use on all exterior surfaces, works far more quickly than clay and reduces the risk of surface marring being inflicted during the decontamination process. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to get in touch using the details provided on the contact us page of our website.”
