A few hrs john....need to support the engine from above,remove lower arms etc,disconnect steering rack from subframeand wotever else is connected to it...then remove...weld brackets on the refit in reverse of taking off

That's a monster of a job. Well, if you're happy then I'm happy. Just need to organize a time and date.

dropping the subframe isn't that bad compared with trying to weld the brackets in situ, probably take one hour to remove and 1.5 hours to refit, but you will be glad you did because the welds will be strong 🙂

Well!!!!!!!!!!! After a very long period of time since I first started this thread, you'll all be pleased to hear that the mount is completed. My MOT is due on Monday so I popped over to meet up with Daz and Jamee this morning so that Daz could give the car a quick once over and have a look at welding in the mount brackets. It was 2`C in the garage and we were fekkin freezing!

Daz set about positioning the brackets and making some final tweaks before welding them in place. He's also added some extra plates for strength. I've left out the Powerflex uprated bush for now just to see how the engine movement behaves. If all goes well i'll fit it in a few weeks time.

Jamee brought the BMW beasty along too and very kindly gave me the keys for a quick spin. In one word.....AWESOME!! What a beautiful car! Drives like silk and sounds like the devils stomach rumbling!! Power delivery is smooth and strong from the 3ltr straight 6. Much more well behaved than my SC hooligan!

Would I have one.........yes........oneday! pmsl..

Also, never try taking a dump in an outside loo when its 2`C. Its an experience that I wouldn't really want to repeat after today!! ;-)

It still moves but not as much. I've still got to put the uprated rubber in yet. I think that will make all the difference.

Looks good Johnny, as said the powerflex unit really does help well it did in the Astsra.

Had a bit of a fanny about with the car this morning. I set about resealing the exhaust joint between the downpipe and the cat back. I bought some gasket paper 0,8mm thick, cut myself 2 gaskets, bought some black silicone sealant and sorted the exhaust. Whilst the car was on the jack I decided to remove the new front mount and fit the Powerflex poly bush. The engine seems a little more supported now with the bushes in place.

I spied 2 tapped holes in the O/S strut turret today too. I reckon there's room for some more support to the engine. I feel another plan coming on!!

More modding then Johnny. Do you keep having issues with the exhaust blowing?

Well........I think that the flange on the custom downpipe is a few thou undersize and its not quite marrying up with the flange on the cat-back. Nothing major really but just a little annoying when you can hear it. Its not a big blow. It passed the MOT like it but as I said, its just niggling me a bit.
