its a tad poor when vx know its a problem... if these were french cars then they are all recalled in and sorted.. i had a reno 5gt turbo years ago.. and the fans can stick( setting fire to engine bay) which should run on after engine is turned off, all turbo renos( 5-21-25 ) called in to have new looms fitted with fuses and fans . all at no cost this is goog cust relations ,, same again with the xantia hand brake problem they called all in with bx models and fited stronger springs and harder pads to cure it. all foc... and vx nowt .. not until it breaks and you force them in to a corner to get it fixed ...
yes and vauxhall have done the same, remember the astra f which was recalled to have a clip fitted to the fuel filler pipe? the only cases of any cars catching fire were in europe where not all petrol pumps had an earth on it so a static spark could occur,vauxhall/opel recalled all the mk3 astras in europe to have a clip fitted,as also a rubber grommet in the bonnet as it could allow water to enter the brake master cylinder causing the brakes to over heat and fail due to water ingress, these are the type of recall that vauxhall have issued and both are an safety issue, the cam chain issue was a rework due to not all cars were affected and most were due to customer complaints, there are alot of 2.2s that have gone to a high mileage without any problems despite of being in the engine range, the 1.0 and 1.2 are being recalled due to a manufacturing fault with the chains/tensioners but only within a certain range
be thankfull that most of vauxhalls models are safe as recalls for any saftey issues dont always look good, thankfully there havnt been many for vauxhalls, most issues have been due to supplier problems
