Right i have called another dealer that i usually use for my servicing, it's booked in to have the oil level topped up and then i drive 1K to see if the oil level drops / uses more then 1litre if it does they class this as having a problem?

I asked about it smiking on startup and they said it wasnt normal but it could be anything?

What do you think? I think autotrader is looking more promising by the hour.

My 2.2 has just used 2litres in 200miles!! Heavy smoke on cold start up then clears with smoke when accelerating after overrun. Tried 20w/50 to see if this would reduce burning but had other effects like 5 sec chain noise on cold start up plus engine felt like running in treacle. Reverted to GM 10W/40 engine feels much better but heavy oil use. Suspect valve oil stem seals, was ok before head gasket replaced. Would this fault cause such an excessive smoke problem and oil usage. Any ideas plse notsure.gif notsure.gif dunno..

The last time I had a problem with burning that much oil was when I had an MK1 Astra and the stem seals had been replaced but I think they weren't done properly thus p1ssing all the oil into the engine. Very smokey indeedy!!

i have to top up with 1/4 litre every 300 miles is that bad????? i know the z22 is supposed to use oil but i think that is a bit excessive

Is it possible oil seals were assembled incorrectly after head off?? notsure.gif
