Sorry to hear its been such an audeal mate - it really is disheartening to hear this... Also, sorry to piss on your parade mate but i agree with alanoo, that is running rediculously rich - for optimal power you should be looking at closer to the 13:1. Even super laggy Turbos shouldnt be really dropping below 11's!!

That entire power curve below 4900rpm should be about 1cm higher so there is no 'VTEC' like kick... But either way, should be pretty rapid now so if you're happy so are we 😃

I would fit it and a 2.5" U bend, the mapping will settle down with a better flowing exhaust dunno..

Nice to see it can really be done! What we can learn from this exercise is that there is a still a little more to get (at lower rpms than max) - but that would be much easier with an aftermarket ECU which is much more tunerfriendly (so you can hit the optimal AFR (max torque) at all rpms for example). Will do such a ECU-swap sooner or later, hopefully this winter - now when it is warm and nice I just want to drive (and collect parts for winter-hibernation in my garage 63.. )!

If I did fit the new manifold do you think the car will still run as well? I was given the view that if I did it would run like a bag of shit and the fueling would be all over the place again what..

Better flow should make you run a bit leaner and as you are fuelling WAY too rich, it is not stupid

I noticed that my vx220 was running slightly rich after the 215 mapping [12.0 - 14.0 afr](sooty tailpipes), once the U bend and backbox were 'tweaked' the fuelling was just on the lean side [13.0 - 14.8 afr] (clean tailpipes)

with my latest mapping the tailpipes are a very light grey, but thats with a standalone ecu and my fuelling stays between 13.0 and 13.8 through the entire rev range 🙂

Mine really is running very rich then, will that cause problems or does something need to be done about it? Obviously going down the modded manifold/exhaust route is my next job, so if I assume that across the rev range it might increase the afr by 1 then would this be better for the engine?

A sidenote for all, nominal power is normally at 1.15 richness (₁₂.8:1 for classic pump fuel)

running slightly rich is better than running lean, so your remap is on the safe side of things 🙂

the 4-2-1 will lean off the extra fuelling, so hopefully you will be running closer to the correct mixture

the only answer is to fit an air/fuel gauge to monitor whats happening (theres a group buy on at the moment via allecotec.com - member 'karo' )
