After a day of mapping the vx is at 180bhp. As the car is so individual it's been a tricky job and it's about halfway there. Hopefully by the end of tomorrow it will be finished and maybe upto 190. Fingers crossed 20.gif

Nice one Karl, Keep us posted are the SC injectors all mapped up now.

I presume it at Courtenays.

I would like 180, maybe one day.

Oooh. Sounds promising. Keep us posted on how it goes. My Superchips mapping session last week was a total failure and it's now throwing more P1514 DTC's than it did before - accompanied by a really heavy smell of petrol. What is the spec of your VX currently? Good luck. thumbup

Mine has recently been having P1514 issues recently mate, with rough idling and <1500rpm hesitation. Turned out to be an airleak (crack) on the inlet manifold. Its now 80% fixed but it has still thrown a code once in 1000 miles since, so i assume some air is still leaking somewhere! :roll:

Techieboy didn't need to cut his 2.4 inlet manifold to clear the alternator, so I doubt it's an air leak dunno..

P1514 is due to the map sensor reading a value outside the tolerance allowed what..

Maybe it can crack without cutting

I mean, as the alternator clearence are that small, some of us may have made some damage on the manifold without knowing

The car is at TMS. Having sorted Vocky's they said they could sort mine aswell. I also tried Courtenay but they initially said they couldn't do it because of the sc injectors but after booking in with tms they then said they could having phoned me back about three weeks later.

It seems that mapping these cars is a very individual process, any variable on the tuning side will affect the map alot, so unless a car is identical to a previously mapped car it is unlikely a similar map will work. Mine had about 4 maps written for it yesterday and this sorted the fuelling upto the 4-5k rev rage. The rest will hopefully get done today.

Spec is as follows

Schrick cams
ported/polished head
itg induction
milltek exhaust with sports cat
lightened flywheel
sc injectors
2.4 inlet manifold
ported/polished 2.2 tb

It seems that the sc injectors may not be as necessary as we thought. If you are considering trying to get more power have a real good chat with those that will map it as this seems to be the most difficult aspect of everything.

I'll be phoning tms later and driving back to Milton Keynes this afternoon.

Will definitely be interested to hear how it turns out in the end. Mine has got to go back to TMS at the end of the month to try and get to the bottom of the problem. They took it over to Superchips to do the mapping and it appears to have done 50-60 miles during that mapping session. On the dyno and/or on the road - I don't know. The technician who brought it back to TMS had the limp mode from the P1514 DTC on the way back. Then I had it a couple of times on the way home, followed by 3 in very quick succession at 3:30am the next morning when I set off for Le Mans. Had to limp home and swap to the other car.

I have a similar setup but with the 2.0SC throttle body and the TMS 4-1 exhaust manifold but the SC injectors haven't been fitted as yet and the plan was to do this at the same time as the map. I've no idea what the numbers on the day were, the only information that came back from Superchips was that it was running a little lean over 6,000rpm and they'd richened the mixture.

180 with a stock exhaust and a 2.2 tb is already a good result I think

Good luck mate, I am just messing with the fitment of my 2.0 SC TB, then I will be contacting TMS myself, as had a quick chat at PVS. I have got the SC injectors to fit also, so I hope they sort it!

I get the feeling John (TMS) is not that keen to do the maps. They are taking alot longer than they should and rarely proving an easy thing to sort. Definately have good chat and be aware that it is VERY unlikely it will get done in a day unless you are very lucky.

And everyone hold fire on the sc injectors until you speak to the tuner who will be mapping your car.

Vocky had his car at superchips for almost a week if I remember, and it was far from a real remapping.

All they did was fooling something that did enrich on the whole RPM range, leading to an AFR far from stable through the RPM range.

I am still not convinced they really changed the injection times using a real map...

It's still there 🙁 They still weren't happy with parts of the fuelling so have kept it. It is now apparently upto 185 but to be honest as long as it's running well is all that bothers me. Some more tweeks are needed to sort poor fuelling at about 4k and above 6k, it 'should' be done Monday but it's very much a waiting game.

Still, I'm sure it'll be worth it in the end. What we need is for Superchips to crack a few more parameters in the ECU (like HiTec seem to have done to enable Courtenay's to do their SC conversion without the piggyback ECU). My remap last week was apparently fine for fuelling below 6,000rpm (although it felt like there was a blackhole at 4,000rpm) but needed to be richer >6,000rpm. It smells like the increased fuelling is across the range now though as it absolutely stinks of petrol, so much so that the wife called me in Le Mans in a panic about the petrol smell in the garage 15 hours after I dumped the car back in there.

Is the mapping being done at TMS or have they had to send the car over to Buckingham? Did they need to weld an additional lambda boss onto your Milltek (Superchips demanded TMS did that to mine before tackling it)?
