that is correct, I left the factory relay alone and simply used the webcon ecu output to switch the original relay 🙂

one thing which was 'missing' from the kit was an ecu mounting bracket notsure.gif

anyway I made one today and mounted it using some vx220 wheelarch 'nutserts' and some bolts

clam now refitted, just the engine cover left to do munchies..

So what rev limit is the engine going to have when finally mapped?

Can you access the ecu with a laptop or do weber still run a closed system that only webcon dealers can access?

Looks great and I can't wait to see what results you get from it. I had a redtop on tb's before I got the vx220 and i still miss the noise and 7800rpm rev limit! rallygif

they will be installed after the mapping, I have asked them to try different length trumpets, so depends on what needs doing after the mapping 🙂

Be careful with your rev limit vocky

The weakest part of this engine are the valves springs, and you have some valves much heavier than stock ones + more lift with your cams.
Of course as there is a LOT of piston/valve clearance it should not be dramatic but well, think about changing these

I won't be running it above 7000 rpm until I fit double valve springs, but thats a job for the winter months 🙂

until it's mapped it won't be driven very much, if at all 🙁

I do sometimes wonder why I never fitted uprated valve springs... what..

ps: have you got any links for some good springs ?

But well, as you know I was not very happy about the quality of SIvalves stuff and I deeply regret I didn't go with Ferrea directly
Try either getting some Ferrea ones from the US, or maybe try some second hand LSJ stock springs

I'll say you better wait a bit as if I can get a full LSJ head, I won't need the springs and I may let them go cheap 😉

the signal is a PWM

The VX wiring is pretty straight forward.
Only the Rpm and Temp signals to the Stack were a bit of a mystery as these come directly from the 2,2 Ecu. (The US 2.0LSJ ECU doesn't have these signals, as the US-LSJ's instruments are driven the bordcomputer through the OBM. Or at least not in their scheme's.)

What kind of puls does the Stack want for RPM signal? Can I just intercept the it somewhere on the ignition like the rev counters in the old days?
Temp signal is also pulse modulated? notsure.gif
Will probably just have to see what is going on there with a scope...

Did not know that LSJ valve springs are stronger than the 2,2's. Where did you got that info?
As the LSJ is basically a Saab 9.3 2.0T engine, you can have higher rev limit with installing standard Saab valve springs??

Straight from the GM build book :
L61 springs to 7000 rpm
LSJ springs are recommended upto 7500rpm and 350 bhp

Shame, otherwise I might have considered trying to get this kit from TMS minus the TB:s, and then map the ECU myself.
For a stage-2 I could have gotten the TB:s, and remap.

The kit has some parts I need
ECU + sensors and cables, accelerator pedal, throttle cable...

The locked mapping was one of the issues that many people had/have with the TMS kit. At least Vocky has pretty much done everything else posible to his engine and won't need to go back to webcon after subsiquent mods.

Vocky how confident are you that webcon can deliver on thier mapping time scales, as I remember there where alot of issuse with getting webcon to map the kit during the developmnet.

I have booked it into Northampton Motorsport as recommended by Webcon, the guy seems to know his stuff and will map my car the same day dunno..

So hopefully looking forward to some summer fun once it's done rallygif

I hope you get a decent service from them..... never really heard much good about them. But then again you never tend to hear the good things on the internet lol.

Looks good. As Winstar says, good system but being locked out to dealers only is a sure fire way to limit your customer base.

I'd have had a few kits off them otherwise lol

I searched the internet and could only find good things about Northampton Motorsport dunno..

several posts on pistonheads recommend them too what..

the consensus seems to be an accurate rolling road, which I prefer 🙂

can't stand 'bull' bhp figures noth.

the accelerator pedal + throttle cable = lotus elise 😃

ecu / sensors / loom = any aftermarket system, there are no original sensors used on the webcom itb kit
