Comp cams fitted

Hi all,

Had the stage I comp cams fitted tonight. Idle's like a biaaatch at the moment, hoping that will smooth out a bit as it learns, which it has been doing.

Ran the car on fast idle for 20 minutes, then went for a blast.

Felt slower than before to begin with, came to some lights, let it idle a bit, got round onto the dual carriageway and wellied it, all the power comes at the top after about 4k rpm where it pulls like a good 'en!!

I am waiting until the ecu has settled down a bit as it doesn't seem too happy at the moment, giving good whallops of power in the mid range sometimes and dragging her feet others.

Hopefully once the techies have sorted the 2.4TB issue, I can get that fitted along with the new injectors, get the remap, then job done!!

scroll down slighty from the reply box dave, and you will see the opload attachment tab...click that ,select browse then choose ure file,then click add ,when uploaded click place inline..

i hope it does sort out mate... did you reset the ecu aswel? as i thought the power band started at around 2k sum say 2k and others say 2.5k but really do hope the car likes them, i guess time will tell. whats your mpg like got worse or?......

Not really driven it enough to tell at the moment, I have just sat in traffic all morning, not had chance to go any faster than 40mph. No I didn't reset the ecu.

youve got the 2.4 mani on aswell aint ya? a couple of peeps said lumpy idle was crazy with it, i cant remeber what the cure was

Yes I have mate, and a 2.5" exhaust all the way through with a Daz special downpipe and sports cat.

If someone knows a way of smoothing the idle, please let me know - short of removing the balancer shafts!!

Will a remap help?

When i blocked my FPR pipe, my idle settled to almost stock (Piper cams), although what that did to fuel pressure i have no idea cos it was a mistake!! Cant really comment on the cars performance though as the ECU was 'bedding in' so i didnt boot it - probably a good job as it could have been running lean!?

you need to reset the ecu and drive using a maximum of 4000 rpm for 30-50 miles

The problem with my FPR is that it is located near the fuel tank (being a Vec C it is always different!!).

Will reset the ecu tonight.

The car runs fine when it has warmed up, although when I start it up first thing, it can feel held back for the first 30 seconds or so of driving.

The power delivery above 4k rpm is excellent though, and it drives well when driven normally too!

i thought the power was ment to be from around 2kish - 6k+ not just from 4k?

Well I didn't feel much improvement over what I was running before TBH below this level. There is some improvement, slightly torquier (is that a word?), but not enough to think wow, until it gets higher in the revs.

MPG round town has dropped very slightly (might have something to do with me loving the power above a certain amount of revs), but long distance is around the same, I am quite pleased.
