2.4 TB wiring mods

I had that same error when I was trying different value resistors, I think I fitted a higher value to pin B than pin C or might have been too low a value resistor notsure.gif

it's worth rechecking the values/pin numbers dunno..

also I had to reset the ecu after adding the resistors, then it started just like normal

Not looking good. Turning the ignition on causes what sounds like the tb to open about 10 times machine gun style. On start up the eml light came on and the idle was erratic, it then climbed up to 2k where it sat whilst dipping occasionally. I want to check if this is part of the learning procedure before I block the local roads. Not sure why the eml light came on though? I double checked the resistances and one is 361 and the other is 250, the 250 one was bang on 240 when I fitted it?

If your batterys been flat then this can trigger the eml, it goes off after a couple of starts normally

Still not happening. Had the battery disconnected for a while and just tried it again, Eml comes on immediately but tb machine gun mode doesn't happen. I checked the resistors again and they appear correct and are attached to the correct wires, although 'C' on mine is red/black. The accelerator seems to be locked out as it doesn't work and the rad fan comes on as soon as engine starts.

I think the first thing you need to do is refit the 2.2 tb to ensure the engine runs ok, then we have a benchmark to work from.

it maybe the resistors need tweaking for the 2.4 inlet manifold :roll:

at least we have a starting point of 240 + 360 with a standard 2.2 engine 🙂

also might be better re-fitting the 2.2 injectors until you get a remap dunno..

Just thought I'd try the 2.2tb with the resistors in place and the car won't start, it just turns over. Is it worth trying different resistors with the 2.4? Any suggestions?

I had the same when I used 100 + 240 instead of 240 + 360, so there seems to be a pattern forming, it maybe the 2.4 inlet requires the resistors to be 360 + 480 dunno..

but get the engine running sweet with the 2.2 stuff first and then move forwards 🙂

I'll try 480 on B and 360 on C in the morning if everything runs normally as standard

**B must be lower than C **

so you mean B - 360, C - 480 :lol:

B could be any value between 240 & 360

C could be any value between 360 & 480

just make sure you add the same amount to each resistance,
240 + 360, 250 + 370, 260 + 380, 270 + 390, 280 + 400, 290 + 410, 300 + 420, 310 + 430, 320 + 440, 330 + 450, 340 + 460, 350 + 470, 360 + 480

Neil, not sure if i've missed this already but how does the Vectra feel with the 2.4 installed on it? Can you feel the difference?

bog standard z22se with a bigger tb - I couldn't tell the difference Johnny :roll:

but then it's not needed until 170+ bhp dunno..

Reverted the car back to standard tb and no resistors and it started and idled how it has been, roughly. This is probably due to the sc injectors.

I have since refitted the 2.4tb and trid the following combinations of resistors....

Wire B / Wire C
240 360
260 380
280 400
300 420
330 450
360 480

None of these has worked. Between fitting each set I reset the ecu. Each time on start up the car has a rough idle, the throttle doesn't work and the fan comes on.

When I fitted the 2.4tb the car would start but as soon as the throttle was opened above about 3k the power would go and the throttle did nothing. I had to coast to a stop and restart the engine and then drive home very slowly.

do you have a remap on your vx dunno..

the remaps normally alter the throttle response and that might be the problem, or might not :?

I think we really need courtenay to run the 2.4 tb on their rolling road with the resistors, it's so much easier and quicker to sort with the car standing still, it could well be the map sensor box of tricks will then come into play and work with the resistors dunno..
