Laptop battery life??

...just throwing a quick question out to see what peoples battery lifes like, when on-line (& wireless if that makes a big difference), mines showing just under 2hrs but reckon itll be gone before that!!

my Toshiba laptop lasts around 2 hours, but my Acer did last the same but now its down to about 30mins, mainly because i left it plugged into the mains for about a year permanently.

All depends on the age of the battery.

If the laptop is older then 12months then, you will see a huge decrease in it's life.

TBH it all depends on what you are doing and what spec the laptop, size of the screen is etc 2 / 3 hrs is good. 1hr is ok and less then that the battery is either knacked or you have a mega powerful laptop with all the engery saving modes off.

Its only a few weeks old, purchase by my lovely wife for use on detatchments etc as a point of contact. Used over the last couple of days on good ol z22se in my lounge (now Ive got off my butt and wirelessed the house) Its not an all singing all dancing laptop, I just required wireless & a DVD player/burner.

So it looks like the batteries not bad at all.

I've had a few laptops, when new the battery lasts ages, after a couple of years it usually lasts 30 minutes max :roll:

Might be worth me purchasing a spare battery if they`re not toooo pricey, alot of use will be stuck on RAF flights with a wallet full of DVDs, anywhere up to 8hrs depending on aircraft. thumbd

That`s not too bad, the last back-up battery I had to buy was for a camcorder, that was expensive.

(and before Neil sees this post, I needed 2 batteries for making hot home movies!!!!)

Fully charged the battery yesterday evening with it switched off, then last night on the internet contantly browsing etc (wireless, if that makes a difference) and got nearly 2 hrs out of it before the first battery getting low warning came up, so, can`t moan,

maybe if you could use a wire instead of being wireless you could boost it a little more dunno..

i noticed a bit of a diffrenece in mine you could try it to see dunno.. are you able to control what speed the processor is running at as this will save power and it all really depends what tasks your doing but every little helps

Control speed of processor!!! never thought about it, not really dabbled too much into my computers, Ill look in to it later when Im home.
