Custom Made Manifolds

Right Guys.

I have been in talks with http://www.exhaustsuk.co.uk/ about our onging issues with not having a good source of decent manifolds for the z22se over the last couple of weeks.

They are very well known company for making custom exhaust systems and are based in Sheffield.

I have now got to a state where http://www.exhaustsuk.co.uk/ will make us 4-2-1 manifolds for our cars.

The price will be £500 - £600 and we need 10 members for this to happen.

Obviously they offer a full fitting service as well.

Exhausts UK will need a donor car for a few days and they will also provide you with a courtsey car in the mean time.

I have just set this up,for full info about this or would like to talk to Exhausts UK further on this then you need to speak to Peter, and explain you have seen this on this forum. As said i have just been in contact and manged to secure us somthing, thats as far as i am involved with this GB / deal. Exhausts Uk number is Tel 0800 0480754 Ask for Peter

this sounds good to me but dont have that kind of money
but would not have a problem with them lending my car for a few days if need be
just say the word if needed

thats good news but wont fitting it on a veccy and a vx220 be rather different??

From their website the don't seem to sell any other manifolds, why is that?

No they dont sell manifolds but they are making these as one off's for us.

Do they have any experience of making them? it's alot more complicated than a back box.

However The Astra/Vectra should be pretty easy if they just buy/lend a weapon R copy the 4-2 section and reverse engineer the 2-1 section than make one to fit the package space. in fact may be easier if they developed a conversion for the weapon R as it's so cheap.

The VX on the other hand isn't so easy, I went through 10+ different runner configurations in CAD before I could find one that would fit long primairy runners in the space while keeping the std flang location* even then it requires slip joints as it's too tight to fit a flexi and a cat. Just got to find the cash/time/etc to sort out getting someone to make it.

I'm still wondering if I just go back to a blank sheet as make a fully bespoke manifold flange to tail pipe job.

I Presume they must have some exprience or they would not be offering this service us, i understand the amount of devlopment that has to go into making somthing like this.

As said i just been in contact with them to get us this offer, as it may be a solution for some of our members.

If you want to ask Technical questions / see if you are happy with what they are thinking of doing for us \ want previous examples of special work they have done.

Please just give them a bell.

The problem is at that price 2bular will be producing a manifold for the vx220 that is excellent quality take a look at there website. drool.gif

Though it is still vastly cheaper than the Thorney mani.

2.2 mani is not yet on the website. Jim is still pondering about final details, but won't be too long now (really need to get my car back on the road!).

No the VX220 manifold is not on there but if you take a look at the exige manifold you can see what to expect.

anybody wondering about them having any past knoledge of manifolds i know somebody who had one made form them he was happy with it also if you look on there site in the menu under services there is a bit about manifolds in that
i have been talking to them today about it they are just waiting for us the get a number of people who want one

I would be interested in this,

will they make a custom one for all of us, specific to what each individual wants?

Im wanting a 4-2-1 manifold that will extend all the way down to where the end of the Cat connects to the center piece, thus making it a de-cat at the same time....

tis for a Vec B

wonder if this is possible ?

As said on my first post we need to get 10 members to get them for £500 - £600. If you wanted one i am sure they will do it but at a price.

I think the problem here is you've got a company with a website that to be honest is a load of 'Gloss and Bollox' aimed at the Max Power Backbox brigade, but I'm not saying they don't know what their doing, it's just the only manifold listed on their site is an scooby one and there's no interacetion between the runner lengths on a turbo manifold as the turbine volute & wheel dispates them.

With a NA manifold then the runner length, diameter and equallality (is that a word?) all impact on how the manifold affects the torque curve and there is no evidence of the gains from the manifold or details of development cycles that they are prepared to go through for the 10, are thay prepared to scrap off a design and modify it if doesn't perform?

Then we come to the installations I make that there are 3 installations, Astra, Vectra and VX all have different packages an would need a marginally different design.

However I still think it's a better propersition than the Dilbert Cast 4-1.

As they're local to me I'll go down and ask them a few questions and see what they say.

get them to quote for a reasonable quality Mild Steel manifold too Rob 😃

with the VX protecting the exhaust so well a quality Mild one will lasr just as long as a cheap stainless one (most exhausts are made from cheap stainless... unless its 2bular of course, but then I'm not willing to pay that kinda money)

Im interested in a exhaust mani but not prepared to lash out 600 dabs. Maybe Im just turning into a tight wad in my old age cryb.. !?
Winstar, what do you reckon the cost of your custom manifold will be once youve finished?
I would be interested to see the performance gains from the dilbert mani - maybe they are counteracted by the fact that it weighs fookin 10 stone?

Well I emailed them a couple of weeks ago and have heard nothing back from them.

The problem with the vx is that to get it into the space without cuttiong the boot you have to use a lot of bends which along with the small volumes means it'll be expensive. Steel is one option but not sure how much that'll save.

If you don't want to pay £600+ then the only option is to get a weapon R and cut the boot.

Edit I also have some major concerns that the dilbert manifold will crack pretty quickly due to that huge lup they've stuck on the front to puit their name on.

Sorry you have not had a quick response back it may be work calling them. I can see how the OE one could be prone to cracking but the thickness and weight of the Dibalis i could not see it cracking in short time frame. I may be wrong.
