spoke to the mechanic it was just a nut he had lying around - apparently designed for turbo manifold (different metal to normal - more heat resistant) ????????????????
not sure what the std ones are, but you shouldn't use steel for anything ove 350 C
You can normally get away with using A2-70 stainless, but if not then you'll need A-286 nickle which is expensive as it's v hard to machine.
Saying that we're now recomending inconel studs for modern diesel turbo as the gas temps are getting so high.
