Max HP before remap 131.1 at the wheels.
Max HP after remap 131.1 at the wheels. (That's 159.1@ flywheel BTW )
That's not a typo.
And power and torque curves prove my "arse dyno" to be very accurate thankyouverymooch daaaaavek 😃
There was a mix up over exactly what I wanted. They put on a standard stage 2 remap and its only effect was to change the air fuel ratio at +4500 RPM from 12 to more than 15 - I forgot to ask for the AFR graph, so those figures maybe off slightly, but it was certainly a level the operator was not happy to leave on the car with no benefit to HP/torque. This throws up some questions -
(Bare with me here because this is where my mechanical knowledge starts to run out notsure.gif )
Is it just my car, or any car with a TMS stage 2 remap that would run leaner with the 2.4 mani?
Is AFR of more than 15 going to cause any harm?
Could the fact I have a standard induction setup with the FPR pipe in the normal place rather than on a take off for the one way valve going to effect the AFR at 4500ish+RPM?
Are the injectors any where near maximum at this sort of power level?
At the moment it's back on the standard map and the car is booked in next Monday with superchips for a custom remap, although I must admit I'm now considering cancelling that appointment, as its going to cost £600+ with no way of predicting the results.
The problem is John at TMS is understandably otherwise occupied with the imminent birth of his wives and his new baby, so there didn't seem to be anyone there to talk to about how the z22se development was going, costs involved in altering the custom map in the future if/when I add something and perhaps a modest discount as a gesture for possibly providing the basis of a map for what could be a fairly common state of tune (new stage 2+?).
As suggested by the woman at TMS (I'm awful with names) I'll e-mail John with these questions, but for obvious reasons I'd be amazed if he got back to me before the booked date. baby..
To sum up I'm happy with the power gain from the mani.
The journey was worth it for the RR session.
I've learned when someone says "I'll put down you've got a 2.4 inlet on your notes and if there could be a problem with putting a stage 2 map on that John or Ian will get back to you", to not presume when they don't call it means it's OK. I'm not having a go at TMS - after all they couldn't predict what would happen, but a phone call back to clarify my options would have been nice.
