finally finished the 'gearbox end' of the gear change mechanism, I still need to sort the gearlever end but that's quite easy 🙂

the problem is that the gate selector operates 'back to front', so when you select 1st you would get 5th, 2nd - 6th, 5th - 1st, 6th - 2nd :?

EDIT: pivot assembly only required for the vx220 models

at least three options available:

1 - pay £1100 for the complete lotus linkage :roll:
2 - make a new bracket and feed the cable from the other side of the gearbox
3 - make a pivot assembly

I decided to make a pivot assembly...

also checked the new mounting fitment 🙂

'hub to hub' they are identical 🙂

although the diff is slightly off centre compared to the F23, so the shafts are different lengths to the F23 units.

they also fit both the M32 gearbox and vx220 hubs 😃

that's my son's toolbox, it's covered in various stickers :lol:

been removing various parts to allow the gearbox to be removed :roll:

so that's both driveshafts, nearside rear suspension, air intake pipework, coolant tank bracket and a few other bits..

I modified the cv heatshield too, quite easy - drilled and taped a hole in the new gearbox mount, fitted a bolt from the otherside, added a washer and nut to lock it in place then drilled a hole in the heatshield after removing the unused original hole section.

I have now also removed the exhaust system and sorted the flange joint at last, it just wasn't quite right.

the only vx220's with a 6 speed that I've heard about are all in europe, one has the saab z2.0net turbo engine + 6 speed F40 box and there's one or two vx220 Turbo's notsure.gif

as far as I know mine is the first 2.2 with a M32 6 speed gearbox 8)

the only hiccup was the gearbox bracket, mine is from the donor vectra and I think I need an astra bracket instead, luckily I bought the Lotus passenger mounting bracket as that is required too :roll:
