Where I work.........

........we have been very busy on a new project called the Future Lynx Project. Its the new Lynx Helicopter to go into service by 2014 on the battlefield with the Army and across the sea by the Royal Navy. It means a huge success for our company and our jobs having this contract. I have been involved in the design and programming manufacture of component tooling/fixturing for this project. The machines in the news report below are all 5-Axis Machining Centers on the department that I am Cell Leader of.

I haven't got a clue! :oops:

We are going to be making the main aircraft frame from the point where the tail joins the main fuselage to the nose. We could have taken on the whole thing but we haven't the facilities for bonded composite components which is what the tail is made of.

I was on the Points West news at 6:30pm tonight. I was so proud tonight that I wore my new Future Lynx t-shirt and name tag to asda!!

😃... & theyre now training me up on the £8 million Raptor pod, the sensors (camera) worth £3m alone. Not a bad bit of kit, time on Big Ben`s visable at around 15000 ft 10 nautical miles away.
