Is there any other manufacturer offering similar downpipe except above mentioned?

As far as i'm aware you cannot get just the downpipe on its own unless you find an exhaust specialist such as Powerflow or Longlife to make you a one off pipe which will be massively expensive.

The pipe comes as a whole unless anyone knows any different. That means Pre-cat included and 400 cell cat which is the standard replcement part like you'd get from the main dealer.

You may want to PM Daz, he's got my old downpipe that's been chopped at the flexi. There was nothing wrong with that the last time I saw it.

I have found another seller http://www.autobits.co.uk/store/view_product.php?product=4902 for reasonable price. Anyway tomorrow I would pop in the local Havant Motor Factory shop to see what they can offer.

That is the cheapest pipe including cats that I have EVER seen. That has got to be the one you want to order then?

You won't get anything for your car a a local motor factor because the part that you need is too specific.

Thanks for your reflection about quality. I ran BM Catalysts today and being quoted 170quid. Been to Havant Motor Factors and been quoted 146quid for Bosal 098626. Been to Kwik Fit garage and quoted 260quid. Been to local garage and quoted 150+VAT.

Now I am thinking what would be best. I could fit it myself but have only axle stands or have it fitted for 25-40 quid. Anyway would you recommend me to replace old bolts, nuts, springs, gaskets? I would do it if so.

Good price on the down pipe, I paid £190, they are easy to fit total of 3 nuts and 2 bolts. I did mine on axel stands at home, only take 30mins.

I would replace all the bolts and springs, for how much they cost which is a few pounds you've got nice shiny new ones. The old ones may also get damaged whilst removing. Pays to be prepared. I'm really suprised at your local motor factor? You must have better ones in Portsmouth than here in Bristol. Did they have it in stock or was it an order item?

They have it in stock (I bought there bosal rear silencer for Astra F recently as well) and personal is very friendly. Anyway what problems could I expect during removing old and fitting new one?

DO NOT USE WD-40 ON THE SENSORS when removing them!! Can't stress that enough! It ruins them.

Other than that, just the usual grazed knuckles! :lol:

The only thing i will add is that the bosal downpipe does not have a precat, the others probably have

i got the bm catalyst from this co. http://www.nete.co.uk not direct from bm . it might be cheaper to buy one from these and get it sent down, i could even get one for you and send it by courier if you want.

Bosal really doesn't have precat so I could save drill bits and screw driver for anything else 🙂 . Anyway how many bolts and gaskets would I need for fitting? I bought 2 bolts for connection with central section and GM gasket from Vx dealers for connection to manifold.

I have finally fitted new Bosal downpipe with cat and have some problems. It doesn't take 30 minutes or hour but at least 4 hours. I had car on axle stands and about 30cm for work 🙁 Anyway I have managed to undo 3 nuts from manifold and 2 bolts to central section (lovely bolts wouldn't you believe me; one I have broken by unscrewing and second one I had to saw it out in this lovely space). Then I have found I bought wrong bolts (they sold me bolt and springs for rear section) and couldn't remove lambda sensors because I didn't have open spanner size 22 (had to cycle to work to borrow some). Fitting wasn't to bad however when I started car, some fumes went through flange between cat and middle section. I obviously put some exhaust paste there but probably not enough. Anyway it stopped fuming later on and now I can't see anything.
What is strange is the smell of the car after. It stinks and produce quite a lot of white smoke.
Engine is slightly more noisy and can hear something what I haven't heard before.

There are some questions:
It it problem I have used zinc coated bolts for joining flange between cat and middle section?
Would I have to disconnect flange again to put there more exhaust paste or is there anything else better than paste?
Does the strange smell mean anything or is it normal?
Would I have to check bolts and nuts later on?

might be worth rechecking the joint after a few days, if it's blowing seperate and re-apply the gasket joint compound

Dont put any paste b4 the cat at all tho...as it kills em and will void any warranty if u try to make a claim...

As I have read somewhere I was very well informed I can't put paste before cat. I put some at the joint between cat and middle section (far from cat forward) - it won't hurt, will it? I put new gasket between manifold and downpipe - GM 24454112 worth £5.50. There was some metal one so I have replaced it.The old downpipe didn't have precat already so I don't feel to much difference before and after. I can say car is not so much noisy at 3-4.5k rev as was before and does pull nicely from 3.5k rev up.

Another difference between old and new downpipe was in size of hole from manifold side. Bosal has smaller diameter.

Another question, what bolts should I use for joining downpipe with middle section? Vx said bolt M8x35 and Bosal bolt and spring? What should be there? I put zinc coated bolt as Vx recommends.
