broken exhaust down pipe

anyone know 'anyone' who is breaking a 2.2??? i need the down pipe, if no anyone know roughly how much a new one is???

you don't have much luck with them breaking, why not get a flexi welded where it breaks dunno..

now thats a good idea,all i have to do is get that 'tank' sounding vectra down to the nearest place who will do it, and thats 5 miles away.
think ill do it sunday morning at about 6am he he he he!!!!

i just paid about £85 for a new downpipe that was supply , it was about £130 fitted, it was made by a company called bm catalysts, look the website up .

what did you get for that??? the whole thing with the cat?? or just the down pipe?? cos i dont want the rest of it you see.

is the pre cat easy to remove???

Hi guys,

my veccy become more noisy between 3.5 - 4.5k revs and don't know what can cause this change. I crawled under car and spotted that first part of exhaust - precat - cat section is quite rusty see pictures. In case I would like to buy new first section where should I look for it? Is above mentioned

I think so, how much influence has this section in this condition on engine run? Would it last long or do I have to change it ASAP?

since its precat, it's probably best to get it sorted out - looks like its on its last legs,

could just get another flexi welded in there quite easily

You can get a new flexi put in there as luna says. The flexi is around £35 off the internet then £20/30 to weld it in. Better than hundreds of £££'s for a new downpipe.

If I have some extra £££ for my veccy wouldn't be better to get new piece and don't bother about it for couple of years? And I would remove precat before fitting as well. Is this bad idea?

If you wanna do the whole thing, this is the easiest and cheapest option i have found:

part number 098-626. Its a full downpipe with cat but doesnt have the pre-cat in so need to get the drill out 🙂 Not super cheap but it's not that much more than a standard downpipe from vx

I paid £385 for my S/S Hoffmann Downpipe with 200 cell cat included. My pipe came with a precat but I got rid of that rather quickly.

You'll get a standard 400 cell cat in the downpipe section for that price.
