100-120 amp pic request

As above just wondered if anyone has any pics of the 100 and the 120 amp alternators side by side dunno.. cheers..

100 Amp = torx bolts

120 Amp = 13mm head bolts

Just been out to look at mine...held in position with 13mm head bolts...so looks like i got the 120a one... :cry: ...saying that tho i have got a good 20-25mm between the back of the alt and the manifold...

Just noticed....this pic is from the astra that was done....held on by torx bolts,but also the plug in terminal is under the main + connection,where as on the 100a pic above its above the + connection...mine is below....so a bit conflicting

thats because the picture was reversed to make it easier to view the differences in the alloy body :oops:

So I wonder why some cases have two interlocking segments and some have a gap instead? Any relation to ampage?

Daz could you make a mount and mount it a little lower you should have plenty of room with no air con pump?

Would like to keep it mounted as it is and see how it goes....how much gap u got between ure alt and the mani neil?

this is the 100amp alternator measurement less than what i thought tbh
120 is about 25mm i think

Ive got the 120amp one based on the case and the 25mm measurement and it has the torx bolts...

For those that don't know if they have a 100A or 120A and have access a camera phone with a flash you can get a good picture of the info on the back of the alternator. Saves taking the ECU off to see. I don't know if this is full proof but 100A was clearly visible on mine so I am hoping I am OK.

I used a colleague's sony ericson cyber-shot 3.2 mp.

modifying the 2.4 inlet manifold might be the answer rather than changing the alternator notsure.gif

it's already been done, just need a good 'how2'..........anyone dunno..

yeah need better pics on the manifold mod, eg what happens when you cut that bit off

you could seal it with a bit of alu plate and some epoxy or tigerseal or something

Strange, couldnt get a clear shot with my camera, but with my mirror on a stick and a torch i could see a large 100 written in an outline font.
And its held on with bolts...

i guess it really is pot luck then, only way of telling is by doing what you did, or removing the manifold
