vx220 exhaust U bend

2.25" should still be an improvment on the 2" original particuly if you can pick one up for a few quid.

May be a group buy from tms of scrap turbo exhausts?

Just looked up those flanges and it is these guys selling them... they do 180 degree bends (made out of one bend bit of pipe) too!

Just spoke to him he is checking on it now, using the 165mm centre to centre.

you need quite a tight radius for the U bend :roll:

to be honest my new U bend had a slight point but I reprofiled the joint before welding it so it's not obvious to the eye 🙂

You know I wasn't very happy with take one of the 2.5 U bend so I changed chaps and I have just come back from seeing the first attempt 😃 it looks 100 times better in fact it even is U shaped
🙂 Ok I will be uploading some pictures on Thursday when we put it on the car and then create a jig.

What I would like to know is how many would be interested in getting one. It will be a direct replacement for the Milltek U bend on the 2.5 inch system. It will come with heat rap and bolts since you will probably need new ones (don't know if you want gasket aswell). The more I can get the lower the price will be. I am about to put this on the VX220 forum as well so that should help some.

This is the showing of interest list only at this stage I will do a group buy only when I am totally happy

I have a modified standard back box will the pipe sill fit?

The milltek connecting pipe looks the same as the original in the pics Vocky posted?

It is the same diameter as the OEM one notsure.gif, no Idea why though. The new U bend fits over the pipe into the back box not in it. so it should fit no probs.

It should be fine then.

Interesting that Thorney has announced on the org site that they are releasing a 2.5" Milltek after previously saying that there was no gain to be had from a larger diameter???

quick question. How does the replacement pipe fit to the back box, does it need to be welded back inplace or clamped? Also does anything need modifying for clearance i.e heat shields etc.

The replacement pipe actually fits over the pipe into the back box not inside it. Normal only bigger clamp,on the VX220 there is no mod required to fit it as the heat shield is not in the way.
