may be a silly question but what is the advantage of a ported head ???
when a cylinder head is cast imperfections are left behind, also the port shapes are not ideal for maximum flow.
the more flow into a cylinder, the more power an engine can produce, but not so simple as it sounds.
a good ported head requires some skill, opening up the size of the port and shaping the ports is critical, also the valves are not designed for maximum flow.
simply fitting a ported head creates more power, as does the 2.4 inlet manifold - which is simply a bigger internal diameter item, but to get the maximum from it requires a matching improvement in every other component.
you need to take in the complete flow process to create an efficient engine.
this is what I did, every component on my vx220 engine was done with the next item in the chain in mind, end result was 50% increase in standard power 8)
