How do you clean your car?

Jetwash/By hand?

What do you use, and how long do you take? There are some really clean, well looked after cars on here but i haven't got a clue when it comes to waxing/polishing/cleaning ect. Any info. would be great.

My Method

Pre-Rinse with water
Pre-Wash with soap water (Snowfoam at the minute) - leave to soak for 2-5 mins
Hand wash with 2 bucket method, using Meguiars NXT Shampoo (smells fantastic)
Rinse
Towel dry using Meguiars Water Magnet and lube with some quick detailer while drying
Wax using Meguiars stage 3 Carnubra wax

Thats mine at the minute, but will be changing slightly when I get my new products this week.

Exactly as above but after drying...........Poorboys EX-P then Poorboys Nattys Paste White.

I use Meguires Sponge Applicators to apply the wax and Meguires deep terry towels for buffing.

When my new stuff turns up, I will also be using Poorboys Nattys Paste Blue. I've always applied my polish/wax with the Meguiars applicator pads, and buffed off with a terry towel.

I'll also be playing about with a mixture of the pre-foam soak. Will be using a mixture of Snowfoam and Chemical Boys Maxi Suds II.

I just use water and then leather them off :shock:

my vx220 just gets a damp cloth :?

I do use autoglym polish and protector every six months or so 🙂

I stopped using a leather beginning of the year, as it was that which was causing all the swirls in my paint work.

But still, all the effort you've put into the 220, a couple of hours every now and again isn't much to keep it looking tip top.

I have polished it four or five times in 500 miles :lol:

it just gets flies on the front, so I use a damp cloth to loosen them and clean the front up, then a gentle wipe over the rest of the bodywork 🙂

In answer to posting, i dont except on the cars birthday.
I do wipe the lights, number plate and windows over when they get bad.
Total time over 12 months approx 2hrs with two of us.

Mk1 & Mk2 had a character about them. Both of them are fantastic looking cars. Those were the days for Ford. Quite liked the Mk5 Cortina 2.3 Ghia too. The best cars since have been the Sierra Cosworth, Escort Cosworth and the RS Focus ooh and the Focus ST and the Mondeo ST220. Basically anything fast and top end.

Meguires Drying Towel/Water Magnet. Basically its a waffle towel with huge absorbancy.

sorry that was when I was young and had better things to do than take pics, like fit 5 speed boxes, 2.1 engines, porting big valve heads, fitting janspeed single box systems, twin 45 webbers, piper cam etc

I still believe to this day that the Janspeed was made for the Mk1/2 Escorts. They sounded fantastic. Thru' tunnels and back off the throttle for full effect.
