I can get the head unit for £240 from Car Audio Direct. I bought my current one from them as well. They also sell all the wiring adaptors, but they are 3rd party branded, so use different names from the Alpine gear.

I got mine from DVB here http://www.dvbcaraudio.co.uk/alpine-idax001-p-2684.html They dropped the price not long after i ordered mine :roll: I think Alpine only make the interface for the Mk5 due to its crazy canbus wiring system! Even with the Alpine interface my head unit will only work while the engine is running, even Alpine can`t find away round this! For the Mk4 it should be straight forword, have you tried the likes of autoleads or connects2?

Car Audio Direct used to do Autoleads stuff, but looks like they now use InCarTec for all their harneses.

I've just submitted a question on their HelpDesk system, so will see what they come back with.

The headunit will run as it is with no extra harness in the MK4! Its just the steering control adaptor you need, i have seen the part somewhere but i cant find it notsure.gif

That looks to me to be a Universal one, as it's not manufacturer specific, just for Vauxhall. If thats the case, would the one I have at the minute work?

Cheers Andy, the part number in the AOC thread is the one they have on CAD.

29-609 is the one they have, which according to AOC is for the older model than mine (<07-2000). However, it also says that the one which they produce for Sony equipment is the same, and I already have a harness fitted at the minute for my Sony head unit to use the steering wheel controls. I may just need to Stereo specific harness then?

I've just looked on ICT's website, and found the harness spec sheet, and the 29-609 is probably the one I already have, as it's for 98-02 models, and the 29-637 is for 02-03.

Its quite confusing isnt it! I know when i bought one for my corsa it was model specfiic, now most companies make them them in 2 half`s which confuse the f**k out of people! when i ordred a sony to mk4 astra from halfords i got one yellow wire for £35, they didnt reailse i needed a sencond part. I then found out it was year 2000 when autoleads changed their range. But the corsa one one would have worked the astra :roll:
