EGR valve pinouts (egr cheater thread)

I have made a small change to the circuit, basically pin A is a true 0v - so I have used that instead of pin C 🙂

I have built up the 'egr cheater' [copyright Steve Crisp :lol: ]

installed it onto my vx220 and ran 'TEST 1' .............PASSED thumbup

'TEST 2' still to try, so early days 🙂

[all previous versions failed 'TEST 1' 🙁 ]

'TEST 1' = start engine from cold and run to full temp, then switch off and restart engine.

'TEST 2' = drive around town for one hour.

voltage was 1.445v on valve closed position B - A (b - c on standard circuit)

Ok, fitted the 'egr cheater' to my 2.2 sri vec, went for a 20 mile or so saturday shopping trip drive, used various driving styles and NO EML thumbup

so it's passed TEST 2 😃

Test 3 is long term, but it's looking ok 🙂

Neil couple of questions, the bit in your picture above where does it go and is there any benefits of removing a working egr valve??

the pic shows the remains of the electrical socket which sits on top of the egr valve 🙂

so it's plug and play if you use the original socket - just cut it off and trim it up 😃

An egr valve costs over £85 and the egr cheater saves you a fair chunk of money, plus you won't have the egr valve on the engine anymore 😃

this is version 1, but version 2 plugs in the same 🙂

I guess the next step is to find matching pins to mate with the harness plug. We can then make a simple resin mould to pot the electrics and connector pins.

I knocked it up from a piece of stainless plate, I have welded up the exhaust gas supply so don't require a gas tight seal.

I would recommend buying vauxhall part number 24575592 - blanking plate (£3.14)

if you are handy with a soldering iron then feel free to make your own, but I'm willing to make them for members as long as a donation is made to help with the site's overheads cheers..
