Courtenays fitted my fudge block when I had my CS4 package done. I drove home 263 miles and all was good on the Saturday. I went out in the car on Sunday and went about 3 miles up the road and the light came on. I was only doing about 50mph down the by-pass. I went into the main stealer on Monday and they plugged it in and reported a code: P00137 which is Oxygen Sensor Too Lean. They couldn't reset the light because the fault was showing as 'Current'. I phoned Courtenays and they sent me down (next day) an earth wire extension. The fudge block needed to be earthed directly to the battery. After that it was okay for a while. The light only seemed to come on after about 800 miles driving and every time it was put on Tech 2 it came back with the same code. I just disconnected the battery lead and put it back on again and all was fine. Whilst the light was on I never felt any problems with the cars running, all was fine. I've spoken to Mark at Courtenays about this a few times and it just seems to be one of those odd things.
The most sensible reason for this happing seems to be the suggestion of the gases running past the sensor too quickly. From what I understand, the ECU has to read the same fault 20 times before it actually shows the light. Seeing as my car hardly ever sees the light of day anymore might be the reason that my light hasn't shown itself lately!!
Go for process of illimination. Speak to Mark Watts at Courtenays about the fudge and give it a go. Then, see if you can get one of these spacer plugs. As soon as Neil answers my post above i'll buy one.
