my vectra passed at least two Mot's with the egr blanked off 🙂

my piper cams have given both my cars a lumpy tickover, but the vx has less lumpiness due to the lack of balancer shafts 🙂

How thick does the plate have to be?

When I undo this thing, is there going to be bits flying out that I have to watch out for?

Would the EGR not throw up a EML if it was faulty?

Sorry for all the questions but I do tend to panic in my pants!!

at least 4mm to be on the safe side 🙂

it needs to seal the gasket to the engine, so shouldn't bend 🙂

I blanked off my EGR and did notice an improvement suggesting it was faulty. No EML shown even with Tech2.
If this works for you maybe sir vocky will knock you up a cheater, mines done around 1800 miles now and fine.

Did take car to HiTech in Cradley last week for camber set and 4 wheel track work, what they noticed was possibly fueling problems not ticking over right and smelling petrol.
Cat was mentioned (precat out) as was MAF but needed plugging into their machine to check.

Hareng that sounds like the upper lambda sensor (no maf on the z22se)

I bought my new lambda from http://www.lambdapower.co.uk only £59.99 delivered, exactly the same as the vauxhall sensor I removed, comes with loom and plug, so plug and play 🙂

I've re-fitted my EGR valve on the advice of Benny. I only blanked it off to see if it was that causing the problem (which it wasn't in my case).

I may blank it off again now the car's running properly again just to see if it DOES make any difference - but at the moment the car is running like a dream and is back as it was the day I bought it, so I'm happy for the time being 🙂

Thanks Vocky is that the first sensor before the cat?
Both leads to sensors seemed quite solid rather than risk breaking i removed both lambda leads from engine when i fetched the downpipe off.

the mixture control is the sensor nearest the engine 🙂

the sensor behind the cat (towards the rear of the car) is only used to test the cat 🙂

Steve i had same advice from Benny 😃
Got 36mpg this week, usually average 31 to 33mpg to work over 300 miles. Would have been 0.5mpg more but for me last outburst.

My car has only ever returned 24 MPG around town. On a motorway run it gives between 38/42 MPG at around 65-70mph.

I cleaned up the EGR valve this evening with a bit of WD40. I Put it back togther and its still the same. I'll have to see what happens when this other coil pack turns up.

Just another question,

If the chain has jumped, seeing as it was only put on about 1500 miles ago, would the chain have to be replaced or could you just reset the existing chain?

I doubt very much if the chain has jumped, it would need to be stretched, a broken rail or duff tensioner.

the new chain kits should last 100,000 miles plus 🙂

Mine and every one elses car does zero mpg when stationary in traffic.
I could never be an HGV driver governed to their speeds or even 10 mph faster, i would nod off even on a very short run. Motorway i used to expect 33 to 35mpg now i expect 2 to 3mpg more.
I am in no way condoning speeding but there is the element of being more alert, something that a good 60% dont have. Just drive at own pace and with the surrounding conditions, might be the way i have been bought up.

I'm just about fekked off worrying about this bloody car. Spoke to Mark Courtenays yesterday and he suggested that it could be the ECU going wrong. I ordered a blanking plate yesterday and thats coming on Monday so i'll see if that helps with the EGR thing. I should have that other Coil Pack thru' in a few days too so that will be another avenue to explore.

I hope so! I'm too frightened to even drive it now. I came back from seeing Daz on Wednesday night and I haven't driven it since.

can't you borrow a coil pack just to eliminate it, well hopefully cure it :roll:

I've got one coming from ebay. It came off of an engine that had been smashed due to chain failure!!
