Would not want to do this again, :evil:
took me about 2 hours and that was when i started in the vice.

Does not look that hard to do !!

I found that its about 3ins deep,, for any one going to do it, be warned this stuff will cut you to bits if you try to pull it out with your fingers.

All cleaned and ready to go back on 😃

wont know what its like without the pre-cat untill i get the timming chains done, though its all apart
ready to unscrew the chain cover.
Bro is going to do the chains with me as he knows alot more than me, so im just waiting on him.

P.S any1 know about the traction controll switch,
is it when pushed makes contact and stays that way untill pushed again.
OR when pushed makes contact untill you let go ??

Well i think i have messed it up 🙁

bro could not come, so i went ahead took the rest off.

So before i take the chains off i thought it would be a good idea to set the timming @ TDC, while doing so the chain jumped and i think i might have bent some inlet valves :evil: to think i started this job to avoid things like this, im so pissed @ my self. :evil:

Any opinions on how sturdy these are ?? how possible is it that i have indeed bent any ?

Well bro should be coming tommorrow to build everything up, I suppose we will know when i get it running.

P.S Chain tensioner had the cuts but everything inside was the old stuff. Also everyone is saying they found the jet to be blocked & i thought mine was too, untill i put the airline on it, blows through ok i just cant blow through with my mouth im thinking this is normal.

I would have waited a little longer for you bro to come out. I probably would have given it a go myself if it was me, so I know the feeling of just wanting to get it done. I don't know if you would have damaged anything. Vocky will be along to help you out on this question. Good luck mate

if you was turning the engine over by hand, you would have felt the engine lockup

one tooth out doesn't mean the valves will hit the pistons, they need to jump a couple or more for impact to occur

you will be very, very unlucky if you have bent a valve :roll:

bad luck is the only luck I have,,

I was turning it over by hand,
when the chain jumped it seemed to be more than a couple of teeth.

Bro found that the only updated part (chain tensioner down back) was sticking.
He reckons the chain was too slack, thats how it jumped.

Also when taking out one of the bottom guides a bolt rung off, so it took us most of the day to sort that.
As i said no luck at all.

Well its mostly built back up now, just a load of fiddly bits & the pre-cat to go back on.
Then i will find out if i have bent any valves.

Well folks all done now, and i have to say im glad its over.

The valves seem to be ok

As i said above mine had tha new type tensioner (with the cuts)
But all the rest was the old parts.
Makes you think, when these where meant to be replaced they could`nt be assed with the whole job and just fitted a new tensioner. noth.
this infact had become faulty and was jamming.

So for all those that have checked and still think they must have the new kit "Be Warned"

I had also removed my pre-cat but dont really feel a difference, apart from the sound.

you should take it easy for 30 miles or so, to let the ecu settle 🙂

Done that,, have 85 miles clocked up since all the changes, my right foot got bigger after 40 - 50 miles.

going to fit the TC switch next,

Sorry forgot to let everyone know, , , ,

In both kits i got (top & bottom) the bolts you can see in the pic are just that bit too long. can show pic if needed.

incase you do what i nearly done,,, start to fit everything, screw the bolts in tight as normal, :shock: if you check you will find your new bolt is tight but the chain guide is still loose,

I dont know if im the only one to have got these bolts, but you would be sick after doing this job to find your guides rattling about or worse. :?

Hope this might help anyone doing there chain i think its something that should be checked !!

Just to update on my pre-cat i removed,, i dont really feel a difference.

But then again my 2.2 never did feel that strong from day one, maybe im just used to my bike.

strange, some owners notice straight away, others don't feel a difference dunno..
