It was a grey but dry October Saturday morning about a month ago when I arrived in Wolverhampton to meet Benny and change the temperamental timing chain on our Vectra. Our timing chain had started rattling on start up intermittently. Benny was waiting for me when I arrived and once the garage was opened up he set to work on our car. It immediately struck me he has a very well equipped and professional garage. Benny was quite happy for me to stick around and watch the work, nice to see the job being done and Benny was pleased to explain what he was doing and show me the problems with the chain as he worked; although conversation wasn't only restricted to car mechanics. He worked on the engine with great confidence (born out of doing this job many times before I guess) but was meticulous and clearly takes pride and satisfaction from doing the job well. An example of this care I recall was when a bolt would not screw back into the engine block with hand torque only, if it was me I would have been tempted just to exert a little more force to drive the bolt home, Benny removed the bolt and with dentists mirror and torch located some offending dirt in the thread and carefully removed it with tweezers.
My engine had a partially seized timing chain adjuster, the small chain lubrication oil jet (as expected given the engines manufacture date) and slackness in the chain. All these items were remedied as well as an oil and filter change to boot. One month on and the engine has been sounding sweet with no further problems.
In all couldn't recommend Benny enough if your considering a timing chain replacement. To echo the comments of many other happy customers, a great job and a top bloke, at an unbeatable price.
