2.2 vs V6

Just been reading a topic on another site about 2.2 vs V6 Vectra. I have never seen so many peopel nearly at it lol :razz: . V6 owners saying their car is faster than a 2.2 and others saying the 2.2 was faster. It's kept me amused for a while. I loved the part "quote"

Not from what I read Daz. Some guy said he has proof a 2.2 will be a V6? One lad said he beat one at Santa Pod? I have drove V6 before but can't say what they are like up against a 2.2. I read the V6 was alot heavier..........

dont think he sold it after...not 100% sure tho...

A v6 gsi is about 190bhp standard,and got loads of torque...i'm sure i'll be corrected if i'm wrong tho lol

a mate of mine has the v6 veccy not the gsi we put the 2 up against each other in a drag and in the 1st drag the 2.2 won then 2nd drag the v6 won they were close all the way if the traction control was off on my car i think it would of done better

I thought the both of them would be close in a race, with the V6 being heavier. I would think the 2.2 probably has a better gear box?

yes it does a few weeks after the drag my mates gear box went and i ended up changing it for him it sheared a tooth from the diff then fired it throught the alloy casing lol go a pic some were

and what an ass they are to get off and out 😃

Glad it was something easy that went and not his engine.

I'm running more power than a Vectra V6 SRi. They're 167 bhp standard. The reason that the GSi has more bhp is the different cams that were fitted from MSD.

Thats true Johny 🙂. I would love to have that Bhp in my next 2.2, about 170 mark 🙂

I didnt relise thats all they put out in standard form? I'm sure its resonably close either way, but for me you just cant get a better sound than the v6! Everytime Mr Roberts from my local vxlscc region puts his super tourer on the rolling road I druel like a Boxer dog with Rabies.

So, which do people think is better then? I'm defo getting a new car in September, and have been looking at either the 2.2 SRI Vectra, or the 2.5 V6 GSI Vectra???

GSi if you can put up with the running costs. But then again, the 2.2 isn't much different.

Well I only do about 7000 miles a year, and really like the look of the GSI, but prefer the interior of the SRI with the half leater, althought the Recaro's look nice in the GSI

this is my vec 2.2 sri interior, leather retrimmed gsi seats 🙂

Very smart! That trim would also fit an Astra 🙂. My mates have fitted Vectra trim to Astras before, same runners....

hmm, well, just done an insurance quote for a 2000 2.5 GSI, and it's only £700 fully comp if I was 24 with 4 year ncb. It's £900 if I was to get it now.
