Mark_Dj Anyone know how to get rid of a b.exe virus? I managed to get this through Limewire today notsure.gif
Mark_Dj I downloaded some software that had it 🙁 . I just need to get rid of it now. I had to remove Limewire also.
DBcoup hi, looked into it and it could be a worm, if you can get hold of a program called the 'The cleaner' that will do the job. the only problem you have is that it just could be malicious spyware and spybot and adaware will not detect it. Run a scan to see if you can find out more details of it, as b.exe is too vague
Mark_Dj I have run Windows Defender and Spybot but they found nothing. I also did a full system scan using Norton and that never found it. My Norton may not be up to date as it ran out the other month.
rushy Go online with norton and look up the virus definition. If yo can get a better name for it you may find it but its not coming back with anything for me and im up to date.
Mark_Dj Here is a little info I found out about it....... Hey there people. Foolishly, I assumed that avast! would catch any malware that I might pick up from Limewire, and now my task manager, cmd, and various other things are disabled. Limewire kept on trying to start up, so I uninstalled it, and now every time I start my computer, I get a message about b.exe causing an error, and needing to close. I've also got a directory on my desktop called '_' which keeps reappearing after I've deleted it. It's full of files that I'm assuming are bait to put onto Limewire, in order that the malware can spread itself about. I've done my research on it, and it turns out that it's the Alcra worm.

Mark_Dj I don't have a system restore. It takes up too much room so I can't go back. The main thing I have noticed with this virus is I can't do the ctrl + alt + del thing now. It's been blocked by this virus.
Mark_Dj That might be a good idea in a way. I would need lots of updates again including Service Pack 2

Cheers I uninstalled my norton and re installed it twice and its given me a new full years subscription both times.
rushy If you have got system works use that to uninstall it for you. Then do a search for all norton related stuff and make sure its all clear.
vocky use the 'run' command and type in 'msconfig', under 'start up' un-tick the box for the virus restart your pc and then delete the virus that usually does the trick
