the only difference is the sump and the vx220 has an oil cooler, everything else is standard z22se 😃

I'm a bit disheartened with it 🙁

I keep finding things wrong and I'm replacing stuff I never budgeted for, like the handbrake cable was seized = £105 ouch :cry:

As Mark said, it will get there in the end, and with all the efford you've put into it Neil, it will be an absolute stunner!

You have to remember this is a day by day account of my vx220 rebuild and I knew at the start there would be highs and lows, there always will be with projects, it's certainly the low point of the rebuild at the minute :cry:

yesterday I fitted the vx head on the vec, started it up and it sounded like a diesel :shock: fitted the tensioner from the vx220 and it's silent, so theres another £45 gone 🙁

replacing things like that don't help matters much :roll:

a few small jobs today, fitted the new hubs to the hub carriers and replaced the fuel filter - vx state 80k interval, but it was only £16 and so much easier to change without a gearbox in the way :lol:

not much I can do now, waiting for a set of conrod bolts from the usa so I can refit the engine + box :roll:

decided I can fit the conrod bolts with the engine in place 😃

fitted the box and cylinder head

sorted the timing

had a phone call from a member, you know who you are :lol:

ready to go in

first mount on

bolted in

continued refitting bits and peices

I refitted the standard air filter box [it had a cone filter, I'm not a fan of them]

it will need some tweaking [of course] but I wanted to see what I've got to do :lol:

thanx guys, it's nice to know all the long hours are worth it :oops:

not had much time to spend on it today, but managed to refit the rear suspension, hubs and new handbrake cable 😃

still got to fit the braided brake hoses and refurb the rear calipers, then bleed the brakes and clutch 🙂

then tweak the air filter box if I get the time :roll:

Talking of brakes has yours had the modified servo hose fitted, hope it has as I had to fit one at work last month and it was a bugger to route it through.
