what was the best number so far then? 255 is some great going n/a i know its not a 2.2 but still very impressive

255 was at 7100 before it was mapped, it made 255 at 6250 after mapping 😃

261.9 BHP with the stupid crank signal problem causing an early rev limiter, which will be fixed with a new improved crank sensor bracket (y)

I spent a few hours yesterday making a billet crank sensor bracket, hopefully this will cure the issue 🙂

I've had crank sensor issues in the past with my old c20let Corsa, brand new Siemens sensor wouldn't let it Rev over 6500rpm as it was losing signal, fitted the old style sensor back in and reved clean as a whistle up to 7500rpm.

Hopefully the new bracket will solve the problem, is it running a closer gap now?

Gap is still the same, roughly 0.8 - 1mm

Not the best picture, will get a better one when I remove the wheels for cleaning 🙂

Todays jobs involved an oil change at 44777 miles, roughly 400 miles since last years oil change :rolleyes:

And I finally found my coolant leak :mad:

The heater hose connection (next to the windscreen washer bottle) was leaking, the jubilee clip had turned pink and it was also wet underneath the jubilee clip. So I cut the end off the heater hose and fitted a new clip. Hopefully it's now fixed 🙂

went for a drive today, the new crank sensor bracket works perfectly and the new 7650rpm rev limit is easily achieved.

I had the rev limit lowered because the safe limit for my 2.5 engine is 7525rpm and I generally do not hit the limiter when changing gears so can happily rev to 7500rpm.

I lost the love for it last year, but quite enjoyed the drive to and from the MOT station, even though it was raining on the way there :eek:

ps: had to take the wheels off and clean everything once back home 😃

Nice one Vocky,
Cams were always the key (after the weak inlet manifold which you already solved long time ago).
I think you got one of the few profiles Catcams have but not shown in their main catalogue ? They are nice people to work with and good advice 🙂

I took a gamble on the cams, they are supposed to be race only, but I found the stage 3 comps became very mild after increasing the engine cc. Thus the race cams are much milder than they would be in a 2.2 litre, so are perhaps similar to stage 1 cams in a stock z22se engine - just a little lumpy below 2k

Obviously the itb's calm down the cams anyway, but they are not what I would call undriveable, quite the opposite - very useable.

The torque curve you have is perfect. I think I have read somewhere that you have timed the cams to spec? Did you play with the trumpet length to achieve something that good or it is kind of pure luck?

I always time cams to the spec sheets as thats where the manufacturers designed them to be, I know some people play with the timing marks, however I leave them alone.

The trumpet length was really just from the internet, I used a formula and went with it 🙂

However they were all based on a 2.2 engine, not the 2.5 engine, so pure luck would be the best answer :LOL:
