well sometimes you need to think 'outside the box', moving the silencer backwards and upwards, then flipping it 180 degrees allowed the cat to sit the otherside of the silencer so then the manifold could be made with smooth flowing long radius bends 😃

Vocky just thought I would get first dibs on your engine, exhaust and itb's (I will exchange for an almost standard engine). As you have done almost all that can be done, soon you will start to get bored and begin thinking about a new project.

been thinking about another engine/box for a while, just can't find a more powerful NA engine which would fit

I made the U bend section yesterday 😃

just need to fit a flexi in the pipe after after the cat, then it's finished 😃

The only downside to this exhaust system is it's a "clam off" job to remove any section, but thats not too bad dunno..

My new electric water pump arrived yesterday so thats the last job to do this winter, just need to fit a remote thermostat housing and plumb it all in :thumbup:

almost forgot, I need to get the mapping done early next year

the flexi arrived, BUT the internal diameter is only 57mm even though it is a 63mm pipe size (n)

so that won't be getting fitted anytime soon :LOL:

I'm going to see how it goes without a flexi for now, the engine is fixed pretty solid anyway so there won't be much movement dunno..

I have now decided to blank off the heater return pipe, yes I have had another cunning idea, so this part I adapted has now been removed and a 5mm alloy plate has been made and fitted.

I have worked out where all the coolant pipes will go (including the electric pump) and have ordered all the parts to finish, including a remote thermostat - which will be fitted on the engine outlet rather than the inlet.

I will post some pics when the system is finished (y)

ps: I have also decided to fit a Bosch Silver 012 battery, this has 530Amps compared to the 400Amps of the original 063 battery - I need the extra power to crank my high compression engine

if you want to bypass the heater circuit but keep the heater you could use one of those glow plug heater things that veg-oil people use to melt the oil when it's cold, and run a tiny standalone heater loop at the front. Not 100% sure how much heat they put out but must be quite a bit

The heater circuit is staying, I love heat :lol:

it's just going to be plumbed slightly different due to the thermostat moving position :thumbup:

I did last year when I built the engine, it was battle ship grey back then, now it's turning a shade of green :wtf:

I've chipped some off making the exhaust, better get the paintbrush out :lol:

update;

I have made a starter motor support bracket to stop some slight movement of the starter motor when the engine is cranking, I'm sure the alloy mount would break at some point in the future otherwise dunno..

EDIT: I refitted a standard starter motor due to 'issues' with this item.

next job was to swap over the temp gauge and ecu temp senser locations, I used the original temp gauge sender as I have a M10x1 tap

then I mounted the electric coolant pump and made a start on modifying the coolant pipework 😃
