So been working on the vert today. Drove it into shed. Just got around to popping rocker cover off.

gonna take the timing cover off in the morning and see if its jumped. its lined up alright on the cams.
found the waterpump is leaking as well and also the gearbox has a minor leak.

Should be off the hoist within 2 days and on the road. Still lots to do after but just want to get the majority out of the way.

I've also decided to repaint it Tiffany blue. Should help sell the car better. I'm sure a young girl will absolutely love it.

Anyone going Santa Pod this weekend? A Friend and myself are, staying at a hotel nearby so we can go to the RWYB on sat and the Fast Show on sunday. My friend is going to take his 300+/- bhp Fiat Coupe 20v Turbo down the strip.

Quite rapid cars I think, this one is mint! 2000 Model - Dark metallic blue with the lightish graphite wheels and 6 speed box, think its a LE too.

Yeah, very quick indeed. Pain in the arse if you want the cambelt changing though, as you have to lift half the engine out of the bay.

There is that!! He had to do that with the one he had before.

The grey one above had that done just before he bought it (along with a few other tasty updates). Think that was also running _300bhp.

Popped timing cover off.
A piece of guide fell out.
Was not expecting this though.

Only missing one big bit of a guide. Everything else accounted for.

So the guides had totally shattered then??

Yep.
2 bolts started getting grinded. One by the chain another got caught between the block and balance chain sprocket on the crank so lots of metal in sump.
Just got these out of the sump.

From what I've seen reading these posts time and time again, when they go, they proper GO don't they!

That is usually the case.
Just really surprised with all this chaos that the timing is still perfectly lined up.
Balance chain tensioner is seized at the point its at.
