Does anyone no why there is a channel in the casting of the water pump that goes from outside to the middle where the shaft goes I wanna tig the shaft hole up so wanted to check first 🙂

Just curious but does the baking process change the colour then or was that a primer picture then a finished top coat. I understand how powder coating works just not sure about the dramatic colour change, lol. Looks amazing though mate, great when you can do that sort of thing yourself, well done indeed.

@[deleted] When I took that pick I had already put a powder primer on and baked it, then I based the gold bits up, the White is a acrylic powder lacquer I put over top we put it on at 40 degrees so it's goes on white due to it not melting on contact but when it's baked off it goes clear

So the clear bakes on like glass. No imperfections that wat then?

it's a drain hole for when the seals fail, so you know to replace the pump before any serious damage occurs

Then it's done mate, can be flatted and buffed loads of places just use one shot powder with no lacquer but it's not as hard wearing

Tested tig on water pump today not quite happy with it got a bit of porosity in it but I was messing with different settings so wanna weld my other pump up now I've got it set up lol 🙂

Ok so checked the ring gaps to see what there like, just need to buy something to measure my bores now so I can find the correct gap for rings

put the ring in the bore then measure the gap 🙂

@[deleted] Ok just done some sums
Standard bore of 3.3858"
Top ring 3.3858" * .0045 = 0.01523"
2nd ring 3.3858" * .0055 = 0.01862"

.5 oversized bore of 3.4055"
Top ring 3.4055" * .0045 = 0.01532"
2nd ring 3.4055" * .0055 = 0.01873"

Carnt see much difference between the std and oversized

you wont 🙂 what ever the size of the bore the gap in the ring is the same
I know with the 86.0mm pistons the 2nd ring don't even need touching but you should still check the gap
the top ring will need adjusting
