I appreciate that and I hope it didn't come across as me having a pop. Just these days they will use any excuse to have you over. I have a work colleague that has a 58 plate van. He insured it with a company, made sure he told them several times during the phone call it was a van and got a good deal. About two months later he got pulled for no insurance. He obviously argued the point, even produced the proof that he had insurance (certificate and debits from his bank) but they still seized his van and were talking about crushing it. In the end it worked out okay for him but in the interim it cost him the fine, points on his license, the storage charge and then about £1800 to insure it again. He put his solicitor onto it and in the end the company admitted they were wrong (it was a supermarket insurance company as well). They tried to say that they wrote to him after a week to cancel the policy as they didn't insure vans. Only problem was that they hadn't sent him any letters and were still taking money from his account. Like he pointed out to the police, he would hardly not insure his van when he had two other vehicles that he insured as well. His wife's car and his kit car were all insured as well as the van. It is an entirely grey area in some respects, I used to work for a couple of body shops driving a VW Transporter towing an 18 foot twin axle Brian James trailer picking up Saabs, Audis, Porches and others (on occasions they were driven either as they were or on trade plates, in fact I once got the pleasure of driving one of these).
