Another quick question regarding the timing....
Since reassembly the engine management light has been on, idk if that's the egr cheater that's failed or I've still not wired it properly. (I have the bits to make another that's no problem) but I took the car for it's mot today & he's failed it on a track rod end & the emissions. Since then it's been blowing a little blue smoke and the tester asked if I'd set the timing correctly?
Surely if I was just one tooth out on either cam it wouldn't run or tick over??
You need a code reader to tell you what exactly the management light is on for
If your timing is out the car would not start. A typical response from a mechanic that finds it hard to swallow that someone who is not a mechanic managed to do timing chains. I know this from experience.
My car has failed on emissions 2 years running each time I flush the engine then put clean oil and new oil filter, new air filter and this does the job it passes.
Someone with more garage experience has said to me people don't realise the oil affects emissions as well and he was right
If you feel the need you put redex in before oil change and have a blast on the motorway before going back for re-test.
