Get yourself on a evening course at local college! My mate was in your position 7 years ago and he looked into becoming a gas central heating engineer (Plumber really) took him 3 yrs to do the course at college in the evenings, but now he makes more than me.

i was getting the gear oil aswell but at £10 a litre n he said i need 3 litres i couldnt afford to do it 🙁 im sick of being poor. So f**ked of with it to be honest.

Plus if your putting gm 5w30 in the vectra down grade to 10w40 and that save a few quid 😉

I was gonna use 10/40 but advised to go 5/30 cos of the turbo sooooooo i spent 40quid instead of 20quid.

I'd stick to 10/40, people have been using it in the older turbo engines for years without any issues

5/30 for the turbo and better heat support being as you dont have the oil cooler 🙂

You have it the wrong way around, the 5w is better than 10w in the cold but the 30 has less heat resistance than the 40 has. Hence why I use 15w/50 as I want greater protection on track due to the higher oil temps

Agree with what you said above Adam, but in the case of the GM oils, the 10w40 is semi synthetic whereas the 5w30 is fully synthetic, which holds its molecular structure and keeps its protection properties longer.

The 10w40 properties will 'breakdown' quicker and will therefore require changing sooner. I believe that GM dealers now recommend the 5w30 as standard fill for both the Z22SE & Z22YH (for standard road use).

I have used 5w30 since I've had mine and never had an issue with it, and it has helped keep the engine very clean too.

I run GM 10w40 half synt. and change it every 3k miles/year. Should be ok.

Iv spoke to a guy who does flywheel lightening.

If i send him my solid fly wheel he can do it for £60
Now is that a good price and is it worth it?

Yes lightened flywheel made a big difference to my car. Have u got a clutch yet?

No clutch yet. But im thinking long term. So think it would be best to do it.

So i have the best box/clutch n flywheel for minimal money £70gearbox, £60 lightened flywheel, £130 clutch n FREE csc. 😉

Hmm it would depend on the climate as to which viscosity to use - GM myt just want to sell more expensive synthetic rather than semi syn and hence the recommendation. My experience with fully syn 0-30 (Shell not GM oil) is that my engine chews thru it in our warm climate (sydney, Oz). Agreed full syn is going to better tho. Better again is PAO - most so called fully synthetics are actually highly refined mineral oils and not true synthetics at all. Ive used 0-40 PAO synthetic for the best part of 450,00Km and my engine still runs strong and true........

no dont lighten a cast flywheel this is why they explode
steel flywheels are fine to lighten but not cast ones

0-40 is rubbish in this engine whatever the brand
i bought some because it was on offer the car rattled the tappets for 4mins when cold i will never use it again
the gm 5/30 is good and ive been using morris c3 5/30 as its only £26 for 6l 🙂 no issues up to 7300rpm so far lol

@[deleted]. Its sold bud told u I would've got it for u and u could squared up when u could. He going to txt me when he gets another 1 as he breaks performance vauxs
