I certainly bow to your superior knowledge regarding the F23 transmissions (y). I can't say that I have felt any 'notchiness' when cold in 1st or 2nd gear in my Vec - perhaps I have been rather lucky.
Would you recommend adding some transmission oil even though I'm not experiencing the above ? I have checked my gearbox oil level (an awkward procedure) and found it to be OK - incidentally mine didn't have the marked filler bolt.

Note: For some vehicles, the transmission is overfilled with transmission fluid as part of a field remedy. These transmissions have a yellow mark on the fluid filler bolt (2). Here, after installing the fluid checking bolt, a further 0.5 l transmission fluid must be added through the filling opening.
I assume the field remedy they are referring to is No.1653 where a repair kit is used to solve the issue
