Is this particular part made by the same company per chance for both kits

The tensioner on it's own from VX is £54 plus Vat to me on trade.

I've just had a look through the shop orders, and the order I have (4th September 2013) only shows that I supplied the Timing Chain kit, and not a balance chain kit.

You're right I just checked thru my old emails, I bought the GM kit timing kit from here but last minute decided to get an FAI kit for the balancer chain from eBay. So it seems an FAI are the culprits here.

Please get me the GM one, where should I send the paypal too?

Dave has just been and collected the new tensioner.

Just to add to this, @[deleted] and @[deleted] had their chains done around the same time last year. FAI kits purchased from eBay and our shop.

I'm going to be sending the failed tensioner back to FAI for them to investigate what has happened with it.

Thanks @[deleted] for all the help, couldnt have done it with out yours and @[deleted] help.

And everyone else who has been helping me diagnose the fault.

Getting the new part fitted tomorow morning so hopefully get it up and running again by dinner

Any advise on swapping it over?.

I know I need to set the timing and how to do that.

Im then thinking about getting marie to hold tension on the chain with her finger on the guide.
I then unbolt the old tensioner and fit the new 1 and pull the pin?.

Any ideas other than that?

unbolt the old one remove
check timing marks (gave you the info on the phone 🙂)
fit the new one pull pin

Busy boy then. Forecast ain't bad for down here. Got rear disc backplates to do on the Zaf sometime.

I maintain about 15/20 friends and families cars.

So iv allways got something to do.

When im not working on friends cars, im restoring my classic mini or messing with a bike or a quad.
